A little notice

My blog will be updated after May the second, due to my job at DFDS Seaways boat these days. 22 days out on the sea. 7 days at my home. Life is boring here, but soon I will have money enough to finish some of my projects.

And the winners are...

The series should be with the topic: "Women can!". These pictures are taken from my mothers work. Btw, one of the women on the pictures is my mom :-)

The portrait: Alissa (taken in the Sahara desert)
Thanks to all the people who helped me selcting the pictures. Must people voted "for the girl in pink", but many people also liked the close-up of Michal, the one with AK and the little kid in blue.

A night out

How strange to come back to Haslev again, this place hasnt changed at all. Yesterday I went out clubbing with one of my friends. We had a great time at the “pre-party”, there is a great difference partying with UWC people, and the proletariat. I was the only one who had been to highschool of all the people at the “pre-party”, the rest of them were painters, bricklayers, carpenters and one chef. It is really different talks you have, and different ways of drinking. I am sorry if I sound like a big snob now, but I think the difference is very clear, and unfortunately UWC’s tends to stop up as well. We all go to universities, and only the best is good enough for us. I got a bit happy when I read about one of the Danish alumnies from RCNUWC, he is a bouncer today, and before that he worked as a stripper. Now we are talking! (I am not saying that I want to be a stripper, just that we tend to look only one way).
Anyway, the party was great. It was at the best nightclub in Haslev (and only one), and there was free (TOTALLY FREE, yes) beers between 21.00 and 22.00, which meant that A LOT of people started to drink early and got wasted!
My blog will not be updated from Monday and the next 18 days from then, because I got the job on the boat between Oslo and Copenhagen. It is a lot of working, but I will be RICH, muuuhhahahaha……
well, the picture I selected for my “test” for photojournalism was the one with Alissa from Sahara (the girl in pink with the desert background). I also thought about Michal, the little kid in blue, and AK….but I could only select one.

rainy mind

It is so cloudy and raining outside, and I am sitting here in my dull room. My room hasn’t changed since I left Haslev to go to Norway almost 3 years ago. The plants in the window are dead, and so am I. My “to do” list is getting longer and longer for every time I look at it, and I still continue doing nothing, and when I am done with, I continue doing more nothing. I would like to say that “I don’t feel like home”, but the scary thing is that I actually do. This nothingness is my home, the posters on my wall have welcomed me since I was 16, and my room is this little safeties bobble.
I got a phone call today, it was from DFDS, and it is the company that sails, between Oslo and Copenhagen. I got the job, just have to meet up on Monday and then I can start working. 18 days. 12-14 hours a day. I think it is good for me to get some “frames” in my Life. When I have a job, I have a reason to wake up every morning. Right now, the only reason why I should wake up is to read a book, write in my diary, or go and teach a fucking third grade in math. What a Life – or what you will call it.
To make a perfect ending on this story, I can tell everyone that I just got a horrible haircut today…I hate my hair….I hate this day….

why?

It happened for the first time some weeks ago. I was sitting in the train reading an article about a 1½ year old child that died in a car accident. The mom was driving, and the father was sitting with the child in his hands. The child head simply got separated from the spine, and the child died immediately. Then something happened to me.
It happened again when I watched the movie “Crash” at the college…. I had already seen it once before, but it still happened.
I was listing to “Here comes the Sun” with The Beatles, while watching pictures, and then suddenly it happened again.
What happened all these times was that I got extremely wet eyes, yes, almost crying. It has never occurred to me before, not even during graduation in May, or when I said goodbye to people for the last time. I don’t know if it is a feeling that comes with being older, or why I suddenly get a lot more emotional.

It can only be a German!

http://www.string-emil.de/

update...(what a bad headline)

I feel that every time I write something in this blog, it starts out like: ”long time, no write”…kind off…but yeah, it is a long time since I have written, and that is even thought a lot has happened since last time I wrote.
I just finished a okay book by a Danish UWC graduate (86 AC), he decided to row across the Atlantic. He spent 56 days doing that only with another man in the boat. I’m sure that you are asking, WTF! And you will never guess the reason…..he wanted MORE Chinese people at UWC, and that is why he did it. To fundraise scholarships to Chinese. Another little note to this story is that John L. is mention in it!

I have been working the last couple of days as a “substitute teacher”, damn, I really don’t like kids anymore. I am pretty sure that I will never become a teacher for anyone below the age of 16. I almost killed one of my students today….but he deserved it.
I went with Louise to visit Negar in Malmø yesterday, its great fun to meet people after a year away from UWC. I am actually really surprised how fast people mature (compare to how little they did at the college). Negar has started to speak with a British accent and likes to live in London. Louise got a job as a postman…eh postWOman, (sorry angie). We also met up with Max and AK….. UWC will always be there, in some way or another.

The big story of this week, is the trip we had back to the college. Operation Flekke Storm took place 2 weeks ago, and I spent 5 days at the college. I must admit that I expected a lot more from the trip, nevertheless, I still had a okay time there, and it was nice to talk with my first years again. All of them has changed (or is it me?!?), and the college is still a crap place, an English boarding school…what more can I say?
It was funny to see ten of the co-years again, but I also felt that everyone was confused how they should be. Should one be “Mr. X” before May 2005 or “Mr. X” after may 2005. However, in the end we all ended up having great fun.
I think this will be my last visit to the college, but I said that last time as well, so I won’t promise anything.

I got a letter today from the place where I would love to study “photo-journalism”, the only problem is just that you have to do so many fucking tests, for example writing, picture, knowledge tests etc. I have to send in 5 photos about the topic “WOMEN CAN!”, and one portrait photo before I can even go to the tests. I have decided to forget everything about the other universities that I have applied for in Denmark. Next year…Next year…..inshallah.
